We all communicate in slightly different ways. At Distinctive Options, we know communication is essential for expressing your thoughts, wants, needs and opinions. We take the time to get to know you and your communication style.
We can also connect with your allied health practitioner to understand how best to support your particular communication style.
We can create communication aids for participants who may be non-verbal or have challenges with verbal communication.
We support the use of Proloquo2go, a popular communication app and use Key Word Sign throughout our day with the use of resources to ensure everyone is signing correctly.
Communication Assistance
We support individuals to communicate effectively in a manner which best suits them. We will help you develop and implement your individual communication plan. You’ll be able to use suitable communication aids in addition to sensory techniques which will open opportunities like access, meals and other activities to you. You’ll be building your social and interpersonal skills in an environment that is dedicated to your wellbeing.
Travel Training

Recreation & Leisure
Our recreation and leisure programs give you the opportunity to develop recreational interests which can be enjoyed as hobbies, enjoyable activities or meaningful and enjoyable leisure pursuits. You’ll be learning new skills and socialising with others. There are many activities to choose from or you can suggest your own ideas. This can include activities such as community based activities, events, hobbies and crafts and sports.

The radio show provides a fantastic opportunity for people to have a voice and a presence in their local community. You may even develop the skills to operate the control panel and conduct interviews with chosen guests. It’s your voice –have a say!

Enjoy a casual game of bingo with friends in the community. You will build social connections, increase hand-eye coordination, maintain your cognitive abilities and have fun!
